Celebs Who Look Exactly Like Their Parents

The apple doesn't fall very far from the tree, according to the old adage. That's certainly true for these celebrities, who clearly never wonder if they were adopted — the evidence to the contrary is right there when they look in the mirror. In fact, some of these celebs look so much like their parents that they could practically be clones.

However, each of these Hollywood second gens have their own lives and pursuits, even if they do follow in one or more of their parents' footsteps. Here's a list of celebs who look exactly like their moms or dads.

Miley Cyrus

It doesn't matter which look Miley Cyrus is sporting, whether it's edgy or classic — physically, she's a carbon copy of her mother, Tish. The pair have the exact same set of eyes, as well as similar facial structures and lithe frames. But despite their twinning appearances, their personalities do diverge in some ways.

Tish opened up to Refinery 29 about Miley's scandalous performance at the 2013 VMAs, saying, "Miley is who she is, and honestly I don't know where she got that, because I'm a little more sensitive." She's still 100 percent supportive of her daughter, though, and knows her well. She added, "But somehow I did raise a strong, amazing person that's self-confident and really doesn't care what people think. She knows that onstage, that's an artist, a personality she's created for entertainment. But in her real life, she's not always that person."

The young Cyrus also knows that she makes her mother proud. On the The Late Show starring Jimmy Fallon, she told him that her mom must be feeling proud of both her and her sister's accomplishments. She flexed her biceps and kissed them to indicate as such, showing that Team Cyrus is clearly doing well.

Kiefer Sutherland

Seeing Kiefer and Donald Sutherland together makes you wonder if you're looking at the same person — just 30 years apart. But the father and son are indeed two separate people, even though the resemblance is uncanny. Still, they do work in the same profession and have both earned critical accolades for their work.

The duo finally starred in a film together for the first time in 2016 (not the first film they've both been in, which was A Time to Kill, but the first film in which they've interacted), a western by the name of Forsaken. In an interview with Good Morning America, the younger Sutherland said of the experience, "I wanted to work with my father for 30 years... I've watched him for my whole life, and to have the opportunity to work with him was something I've wanted my whole career." It certainly lived up to expectations for Kiefer. He continued, "The experience is something I will never forget."

Donald is just as emotional about his son's work, as he told ET Canada in an interview, "He's a fabulous actor." Regarding Kiefer's skill at an audition, he gushed, "It was perfect. It was unbelievable. It was so beautiful you say, wow, kid."

Zoe Kravitz

Lisa Bonet has been famous since the early 1980s, most notable for her role as Denise Huxtable on The Cosby Show. Years later her daughter Zoë Kravitz, who she had with ex-husband Lenny Kravitz, would follow in her footsteps as she made her foray into the world of acting.

Kravitz takes after her mother, as the two are spitting images of each other with their perfect skin, high foreheads, and deep brown eyes. And Kravitz respects her mother for living her truth, telling Elle magazine that, "She kind of stumbled into that world. It wasn't a conscious choice (a) to be an actress, (b) to be a famous actress, and (c) to be — she shook things up — a model for so many young women. The beautiful thing about her is that she just thought a certain way and lived her life that way."

Kate Hudson

Goldie Hawn is a Hollywood original, and has been breaking barriers for women in film throughout her career. One of the women she helped clear the brush for is her daughter Kate Hudson, herself an Academy Award nominee for her performance in Almost Famous

The actresses bear an uncanny resemblance to one another with their wavy blonde hair and wide smiles, and Hudson sees it — though she didn't always understand why people pointed it out. She told The Associated Press that, "I used to say, 'Why do people say that? I look nothing like my mom' but I sometimes walk across a mirror and just get a glance and I see it."

Hawn followed that up with, "We don't really look alike. You take all of our features and they're not alike. What we do have is a way of being that is both very similar. Katie's eyes are different. She looks more like my mother. It's interesting how you can feel it's in the DNA." And they both agree, as Hudson learned from her mother, that "beauty is an inside-out job."

Charlie Sheen

In recent years, Charlie Sheen has come to be known for his intoxicated shenanigans and unpredictable behavior. And father Martin Sheen, who battled similar demons many years ago, has not been quiet about the topic. A Catholic, he looks to his faith to help him process all that Charlie's going through, and he remains optimistic. He told The Guardian that, "I absolutely believe that he'll come through it. I believe — like St Thérèse of Lisieux — that everything is grace. You don't see it or understand it, but when you begin to reach for the sacred ... everything is grace." Clearly the elder Sheen believes his son, who's a spitting image of him, can and will get better.

And even though Charlie hasn't openly embraced sober living (that the public knows about), he wants to leave a positive legacy. He told The Guardian, "I'm out of things to prove. I just want my kids to be proud of me when I'm here and when I'm gone. You know?"

Ava Phillippe

Ava Phillippe is relatively new to the public eye, having attended the premiere of Big Little Lies with her mother, Reese Witherspoon, in February of 2017. That's when people noticed that the pair look so alike that you almost mistake them for twins. Witherspoon acknowledged the similarity, and told Vanity Fair that, "I do see the resemblance. She's a beautiful person inside and out. She's just a good soul."

She also talked about their relationship, which she says is special. Of it she said, "We're happy to share this wonderful experience. I really have a rich, personal relationship with my daughter. I have a really great career, and it's nice to be able to share it with my kids." Hopefully there will be more to learn about Phillippe in the future.

Robin Thicke

Robin Thicke came of age in the public eye because of his sitcom-star dad, as is evidenced by this Entertainment Tonight clip of him from 1991 — what a throwback! It's clear from viewing it that father Alan Thicke was super supportive of his son's ambition to be a musician — something Robin does successfully today. In the interview, Alan said, "I think that we have to feel flattered that our children want to follow in our footsteps as long as we don't push them that way, and I'm kind of flattered and tickled that he might choose to do that." And while the physical resemblance back then was not as apparent, as adults they looked extremely alike.

Sadly, Alan passed away in late 2016 at the age of 69. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Robin said of his late father that he was, "the greatest man I ever met" and "always a gentleman." It sounds like they were close until the very end.

Riley Curry

You'd be hard-pressed to find a cuter kid than Riley Curry, the young daughter of Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry. She looks so much like her dad with her light, clear eyes, perfect complexion, and head full of curls.

It's abundantly clear when you see them together that Curry is crazy about his daughter. In an interview for the NBA, he reflected on being her father. "I'm blessed to have a healthy baby that brings so much personality and spunk to our family. Every day she's got something new: some new pose, or some new show she's watching, or just the way that she talks... it's just crazy, the development. She's got a charisma about her that she's not shy at all. She is wise beyond her two years." If you haven't seen her in action, you're missing out, as she's in total command of any room she's in.

Liv Tyler

Liv Tyler didn't know that Steven Tyler was her biological father when she was young, though it didn't take her long to realize the truth. It's not hard to believe either, as they're both tall and slender with full heads of long brown hair. Liv told The Guardian that, "When I realised that Steven was my father, it was a moment that was bigger than me, it was almost spiritual. When you meet kin, there is an energy and sparkle between your bodies. It must be chemical somehow — DNA and genes. I felt a connection in a very strong way when I met him as a little girl and I didn't know why at first, but I figured it out rather quickly."

Additionally, Liv noted that getting to know Steven's family further strengthened their bond. She continued, "Steven and I look so alike and we do things in the same way. It was fun getting to know his side of the family. My sister Mia will just move her hand in a certain way and the mannerism is so like mine, it's crazy." Clearly she's a chip off of the Tyler block.

Jaden Smith

Jaden and Willow Smith are all grown up, and Jaden especially looks just like his dad, stylistic differences aside. Additionally, Jaden looks to his father for guidance and inspiration. He told Interview that, "My parents are definitely my biggest role models. And that's where me and Willow both pull all of our inspiration from to change the world. It all comes from a concept of affecting the world in a positive way and leaving it better than it was than when we came."

Those noble ambitions were no doubt fostered by Will and Jada's open and honest parenting style. In an interview on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Will discussed how they raised their kids. "When they were really young, we did a thing called the circle of safety... within the circle of safety, the kids are allowed to say anything that they want, they can tell us anything that they did, and they can cleanse it all out, and they don't get in trouble." Will acknowledges, though, that as his kids have gotten older, there are some things he doesn't want to hear about.

Mamie Gummer

Meryl Streep is one of the most lauded actresses in Hollywood history, so following in her footsteps can't be easy task. But Mamie Gummer, one of Streep's four children, has been steadily building her own acting career on Broadway and on television. In an interview with The Telegraph, she acknowledged the similarity between them. "Well, I've been watching her my whole life. Not just how she acts — if she has a secret to her success, she hasn't passed that on — but how she behaves and interacts with the world; like any kid does with a parent."

In 2015 they acted together in Ricki and the Flash, and Gummer reflected that acting alongside her mother allowed her to deliver a passionate performance. She said, "I don't know if I could have done it with anyone else. It would have been very hard with a stranger to unleash that degree of emotion without worrying. But I know my mom is a professional and she knows me so well." Gummer has been working on projects since then as well, so there will be more of her to come.

Carrie Fisher

Carrie Fisher and her mother Debbie Reynolds were two of the most beloved and iconic actresses in Hollywood. They were so close that they died only one day apart from one another — Fisher first, from "sleep apnea and other undetermined factors," according to the medical examiner (via CNN), and Debbie Reynolds of a stroke, though some believed it was from a broken heart according to the New York Times

In an interview with Oprah, Fisher said kind things about her mother, who she very much resembled. "I believe my mother knows now, but if she doesn't, it would be good if she did, that I take her advice, that I follow her example, that I respect who she is and am glad that, if that I'm like her in any way, I'm very, very happy that I am."

Reynolds spoke of being Fisher's mother, wishing that Fisher could be happier. "I always feel, as a mother does, that I protect her. Who will do that when I'm gone?" So even though things turned out sadly, they were there for one another in life.
