The Truth About Tori And Zach Roloff's Relationship

What's the truth about Tori and Zach Roloff's relationship? The star of Little People, Big World and his wife have charmed viewers for years on the show, which documents the life of the Roloff family. And while the TLC series initially focused primarily on Zach's mother, Amy Roloff, and her now ex-husband, Matt Roloff, fans have been following Tori and Zach with equal — if not greater — interest than the first generation.

One of the things that Little People, Big World fans are especially curious about is the strong and solid romance between Zach and Tori. It's rare that people are given such an inside perspective in a marriage, let alone between a little person and their average-sized spouse. But given how likable and relatable Zach and Tori are, it's not surprising that people want to know everything about them.

While much of Zach and Tori's relationship has been broadcast on TLC for the world to see, there's more to the couple than what you can see on Little People, Big World. Curious to learn more? This is the truth about Tori and Zach Roloff's super sweet relationship.

How did Tori and Zach Roloff first meet?

If you're a regular viewer of Little People, Big World, one of the best shows on TLC, you know it feels like Tori and Zach Roloff have been together forever. And though it certainly has been years since they became a couple, there was a time when they weren't in love for everyone to see.

In fact, it was all the way back in 2010, according to People, when Tori first started crushing on her man. "I met Zach when I was working on his family farm in Oregon," she recalled in an interview with How They Asked by The Knot. "We were both too shy to really approach one another, but we had both told a fellow co-worker we thought the other was cute!" Could their origin story get any sweeter?

Tori and Zach's match-making co-worker was super eager to see the pair connect, too. "This co-worker of ours was so insistent that Zach talk to me," she continued. "But he was too nervous so nothing really came about." At least, not for a while, that is.

Before Tori, Zach Roloff hadn't dated

While it was evident early on that Tori and Zach Roloff were equally interested in each other, romantically speaking, that was unfamiliar territory for Zach. As he tells it, this was his first rodeo, and he didn't quite know what to expect. "I'd never really dated before," he revealed in an interview with People. Hey, who isn't a little bit awkward when they first test the waters of romance? Those are confusing depths to navigate for anyone.

Fortunately, Tori was patient, and she didn't mind spending long days on the Roloff family farm engaged in recreation. "We started playing soccer together on the weekends (although I was just there to see him)," she explained to The Knot's How They Asked, "and we became fast friends." It sounds like having this time to really get to know one another is what made Zach comfortable to make the first move.

It took Zach Roloff months to take Tori on their first date

Once it was abundantly clear to Zach Roloff that Tori was into him, he finally summoned the chutzpah to ask her out on a date. That being said, it didn't happen overnight, as it took Zach quite a while to make the first move once he heard Tori was sweet on him. "About three or four months later, Zach finally got the courage to call me," she told How They Asked by The Knot. "We went out to a movie, and have been seeing each other ever since." That date, by the way, lasted a whopping five hours!

After that, Tori and Zach became an item, dating for two years before the rest of us knew about it. And sweetly, Tori was Zach's first-ever kiss. "It was an epic night, though. It was on the roof of the swamp fort," Zach gushed in an episode of Little People, Big World. "Full moon right above us. Like, primetime. It was prime."

At first, Zach Roloff's wife, Tori, was scared to make their relationship public

One of the reasons that Zach Roloff was hesitant to start dating Tori had to do with the most obvious difference between them. "Her being average height, me being a dwarf, people obviously stare. Like, they think I'm her little brother," Zach explained in an episode of Little People, Big World. That's why he was so skeptical, as he wanted to make sure Tori was strong enough to handle that reality.

Additionally, once Tori and Zach were committed to each other, she had reservations of her own. "We're such a unique pairing, and we have a really cool story to share, but it was terrifying," she confessed to People. "But the show has helped me realize I shouldn't worry about what other people think."

Plus, as Zach tells it, being with Tori made him a happier and more gregarious person. "Tori brought me out of my shell and made me more social," he added, saying she helped his self-confidence. We are so here for this!

Zach Roloff proposed to Tori on the family farm

After Tori and Zach Roloff had been dating for four years, Zach knew in his heart that it was time to take things to the next level. To that end, he prepared to propose to Tori, making their relationship officially permanent.

However, when the big day rolled around, Tori said she was tired from work and wanted to stay home instead of head to the farm. Fortunately she acquiesced and headed out, though she was tired and cranky, as she tells it. But once Zach got her to the spot he'd chosen, Tori realized what was going on. "It was at that moment that Zach stepped up on the platform and asked me to join," she revealed in a chat with The Knot's How They Asked. "He got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife."

Naturally, Tori was absolutely elated, and, of course, said yes. "It was a moment that took my breath away," she continued. "I was so perfectly happy and excited." She added that she realized what a wonderful spot Zach had chosen, which is now a special place for them for obvious reasons.

However, after a sagely conversation with his father, Zach relented, and he agreed to get hitched in the location that Tori had selected. She could see through him, though, as she knew he was just placating her. "I've always said that when Zach and I get married, I'm going to get two signs, and it's going to say 'Mrs. Right' and 'Mr. Always Right,'" she joked in an episode of Little People, Big World (via Us Weekly). "I think Zach is just letting me have my way."

Either way, the spot ended up working out just fine, despite any concerns or misgivings Zach had.

Both Jackson and Lilah have dwarfism, the same condition that their father has. And while that can be difficult for a variety of reasons, Tori praised the resilience of her family. "I'm so proud of my husband and his outlook on it all and even more proud of my son who brushes things off with ease," she wrote on Instagram.
