Here's How Christina Haack Stays In Shape

Christina Haack is one HGTV personality who has truly seen the biggest rise in fame since first appearing on the network. The star of Flip or Flop and Christina on the Coast has obviously gone through many changes since she got her start, but one thing that hasn't changed over the years is how fit and in shape Haack is.

But Haack is more than just a famous HGTV star. She's a mother of three, someone who has seen more than her fair share of heartbreak and has remained positive and strong throughout it all. Despite two divorces, Haack hasn't let anything get her down and keep her down, and she continues to look her absolute best. Seriously, Haack is kind of known for her hot body, and fortunately, she's shared some tips over the years. Yes, if you're curious, here's how Christina Haack stays in shape because she works hard to look good.

Christina Haack actually enjoys working out

Perhaps the most important part of staying fit, for Christina Haack at least, is that she actually enjoys working out. While working out isn't always easy, for Haack, it kind of makes her feel better.

In an interview with People in 2017 not too long after her split from Tarek El Moussa, Haack explained that she didn't just work out to look good, but that it was actually like a form of self-care for her. "Exercise is my stress reliever," she said. She added that when she works out, whether she's doing yoga or running, there's just no beating it. "There is nothing like a good three-mile run for me to really clear my head and get my endorphins going," she shared.

Along with a mood boost, Haack also said that working out has "really helped me cope with my divorce and other emotions I'm going through during this time." If you don't enjoy your workouts, or they don't bring you some kind of relief or joy, then it's going to be hard to keep doing them. So, the fact that Haack really likes working out is just one reason why she's in such good shape.

Christina Haack really likes to run

Take a look at Christina Haack, and it becomes quite clear that the HGTV star is in shape. She looks fit, strong, and beautiful, and part of that comes from Haack's dedication to working out. If you want to follow in her footsteps, though, one of her favorite workouts is something just about everyone can do: go running.

In an interview with Country Living, Haack shared that one of her favorite go-to workouts was running. "I usually take my French bulldog [Cash] for a three-mile jog in my neighborhood," she explained. "It takes about 30 minutes — it's a great workout. It keeps me in shape and I feel like it helps clear my head for the day." Running really is a great way to get your heart-rate up, and it doesn't take much thought or planning, which might be another reason why Haack is in such great shape. To run, all you need are workout clothes, shoes, and determination, so you're probably already set.

Christina Haack stayed fit throughout pregnancy and after birth

Even though Christina Haack is a working mom of three, she's never really made excuses when it comes to staying in shape. Sure, she's super busy, but she's stayed fit throughout her pregnancies. She has even gone back to working out pretty quickly after giving birth. Specifically, after her firstborn, her return to normal was lightning quick.

In an interview with her own nutritionist, Cara Clark, Haack explained that she continued to work out while pregnant, and she was grateful for that. "In my opinion, being fit definitely makes the beginning stages of labor more manageable," she said. "And yoga definitely helped in my breathing techniques." But that's not all, even after Haack gave birth, she continued to work out. "With Taylor I felt great afterwards," she said. "I went for a 2 mile walk 3 days later." That's pretty impressive, and it just goes to show how much Haack enjoys fitness and makes it a priority.

She takes advantage of her surroundings

Christina Haack might enjoy running, but that doesn't mean she only runs to stay in shape. On the contrary, Haack seems to like finding and experimenting with new workouts, including more intense fitness routines. Sure, she could just throw on some sneakers and go for a run, or hire a personal trainer, but Haack has gotten pretty creative with how she stays active.

According to House Beautiful, one of Haack's favorite ways to stay active is to take advantage of her surroundings. Living in California, Haack obviously has access to beautiful beaches, but another thing she can get to pretty easily is Thousands Steps Beach in Laguna Beach. And yes, you guessed it, it has a thousand steps. For a quick and effective workout, Haack will climb the steps a few times, and she has even been known to climb them up to ten times in one workout. That's a lot of steps, and that's a pretty intense workout, although it probably comes with a pretty gorgeous view.

Christina Haack burns calories in this popular class

If you've ever spent a fair amount of time on social media, then you know there are certain fitness classes that are super popular. You've probably seen celebs or influencers post about working out in a spin class, doing Pilates, or maybe doing Orangetheory. And Christina Haack is really on board for that last one.

In an interview with Country Living, Haack explained that running and getting outside aren't the only workouts she enjoys. Specifically, she had started taking Orangetheory Fitness classes at the time. If you don't know, Orangetheory is a cardio and strength-based workout class that boasts small class sizes and an emphasis on optimizing your heart rate. And for Haack, it was just what she needed to mix things up. "It's an awesome workout, super hard and intense, and I noticed a huge change in my body from that," she said. So, if you want to get into shape like Haack, give Orangetheory a try or just implement a cardio and strength workout into your routine to save some cash.

Christina Haack enjoys walking with her kids

Though you might assume that getting in an intense workout would mean Christina Haack has to leave her kids at home all the time, that couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, one of her favorite workouts is all about the kids and allows them to all spend some quality time together.

While speaking with her nutritionist, Cara Clark, Haack described how she was fitting in some exercise on a regular basis without leaving her kids behind. "My current routine is pushing the double stroller about 3 miles/3 days per week," she explained. While this was shortly after Haack gave birth to her second child, son Brayden, she still worked to balance fitness and family. "Honestly, I'm not working out like I would like to be but I just would rather be with my kids right now," she added. As the kids have gotten older, Haack might have increased the intensity or frequency of her workouts, but taking them for walks is still an amazing way to get moving as a family.

She tones her body by doing yoga

Though many people think of yoga as an easy or simple workout, that couldn't be further from the truth. On the contrary, yoga can be great to get your heart rate up, tone your muscles, improve your flexibility, and calm your mind all at once. And for Christina Haack, it's just another part of what helps her to stay in shape.

In a blog post for HGTV, Haack explained that while she enjoyed running, yoga was a more fitting workout while she was pregnant. "When I'm not pregnant, I love to run — but being pregnant I've toned down my workouts a bit," she started. "Right now I'm loving prenatal yoga. It makes my mind and body feel so great and I sleep so sound the night of yoga." Pregnant or not, yoga is obviously something Haack enjoys, as she mentioned it as a go-to exercise when speaking with her nutritionist, Cara Clark

Yoga is truly great for your overall health — physical, mental, and even spiritual — so it's no wonder she's such a fan.

COVID-19 changed Christina Haack's workouts

Clearly, Christina Haack enjoys staying in shape. Yes, she looks great, but from what she's said, it's also pretty obvious that working out is about more than that for the mom of two. Haack feels better mentally and physically while working out, and it really shows. However, she got a real-life plot twist when the coronavirus pandemic struck the United States.

In an interview with Us Weekly, Haack explained that her new fitness routine amid COVID-19 was "a little bit different," but she was making it work. Specifically, Haack said that she had learned to incorporate her kids more into her workouts, being as they were all stuck at home. "What we're doing here right now and what I'm doing my kids is actually really cooking together, doing more projects together, doing exercises together," she shared.

As any mom knows, it can be exhausting to never get a minute to yourself, so it was especially sweet for Haack to make that adjustment to work out more with her kids during the pandemic.

Christina Haack pushes herself with Pilates

Between all the different workouts and healthy lifestyle changes that Christina Haack has done in her life, it's no surprise that no exercise is really off limits for her. And Pilates has been a great way for her to push herself more in a new and different way. Unlike yoga, Pilates is about slow, controlled movements that build strength and really focus on your core. But despite her active lifestyle, it sounds like even Haack has had struggles with it. Speaking to her own nutritionist, Cara Clark, Haack called a nearby Pilates studio, House of Burn, "super hard," but she "[loves] doing] it.

According to an interview with the Orange County Register in 2020, Haack sometimes combines a Pilates class with a bike ride around the beach, specifically the Back Bay area. Hey, clearly Christina Haack knows how to mix things up, and that's good!

She really listens to her body

It might sound like Christina Haack works herself really hard to stay in shape, but that doesn't mean she never takes breaks. On the contrary, she's pretty in tune with her body and what it needs each and every day.

In an interview with Parade, Haack explained that after having children and being diagnosed with PCOS and Hashimoto's Disease, she really had to learn how to listen to her body's cues. "One of the biggest lessons I've learned through this journey has been to listen to my body," she said. "My workouts, for instance, change depending on how I'm feeling. If I'm feeling sluggish, then I'll go for a walk. If I have a ton of energy, I'll go run up stairs. If I feel like I need to slow down, I'll do yoga or a sound bath. I totally change up what I'm doing depending on how I feel."

Haack doesn't always do high-intensity workouts — she just does what she needs to do on a daily basis, whatever that might be.

She drinks a ton of water

Though Christina Haack does work out a fair amount to get in shape, there are other things she does to stay healthy. It's important for everyone to drink plenty of water, and for Haack, it helps her to keep up with her busy schedule and stay fit.

In an interview with her nutritionist, Cara Clark, Haack explained that one of the easy habits she had picked up in order to stay healthy and in shape was to drink a ton of water. "I truly feel there is nothing more important than sleep and water," she said. "I drink 34 oz of Penta brand water when I'm filming. At home I have alkaline water through my water system and enjoy about 20 oz of Perrier!" Drinking enough water every day really is one of the easiest and best things you can do for your health, and Haack has clearly learned that.

Christina Haack makes it a point to eat healthy

As anyone who has gotten into shape or actively tried to lose weight knows, you can work out all you want, but if you don't adjust your diet, you're not going to shed those pounds. And Christina Haack has learned to love healthy eating and what works best for her body.

In an interview with People, Haack said that healthy eating what at the forefront of her priorities. "Nutrition is very important to me for both my own health and wellness, but also for my children," she said. "It's all about everything in moderation. If I want a glass of wine I'm going to have it, or some chocolate — sure why not!" Haack also told Life & Style that she tried to balance healthy eating in a "90/10" way, so she didn't completely restrict herself from indulging every now and then. "90 percent of the time I follow my usual healthy eating routine, but if it's a date night or girls' night out I'll go for that slice of pretzel bread or dirty martini and not torture myself over it," she explained.

Haack has also said she avoids fast food and tries to stick to organic foods, which can obviously be hard for busy parents, but she's made it clear it's important for her overall lifestyle.
