The Sweetest Things Celebs Have Said About Their Significant Others

Let's be honest: When Brangelina split, we almost lost our faith in love forever. However, other celebrity couples are here to keep it alive (and brag along the way). These stars are so romantic when talking about their partners, they make their own rom-coms and love songs seem like child's play. Move over, Hallmark — these are the sweetest things celebs have ever said about their significant others.

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively

Ryan Reynolds loves wife Blake Lively. In May 2017, he told Humans Of New York of the blond beauty, "She always responds with empathy. She meets anger with empathy. She meets hate with empathy. She'll take the time to imagine what happened to a person when they were five or six years old. And she's made me a more empathetic person. I had a very fractured relationship with my father. Before he died, she made me remember things I didn't want to remember. She made me remember the good times."

Lively adores Reynolds as not only a husband, but also a pal. "I knew he would always be my best friend for my whole life. That was the biggest thing to me," she told Marie Claire in June 2016. "I'd never known anything like the friendship that I had with him. I could like him as much as I loved him."

John Krasinski and Emily Blunt

The way John Krasinski talks about wife Emily Blunt may make you cry. In January 2016, he boasted to The Daily Beast, "The best days of my life started when I met my wife — that's the truth, it's not just me saying it because it sounds nice on a card. She's one of the coolest people, she's so talented, she's beautiful, and she's certainly out of my league. And so all of a sudden all of the things I loved, I got to find someone who loved that about me. There was a lot of my life that she hadn't experienced and a lot of her life that I hadn't experienced, so all of a sudden we got to start doing things that we liked. When you're lucky enough to meet your one person then life takes a turn for the best. It can't get better than that."

In September 2016, he told Today, "My wife is my hero in every single way. Truly every single day I'm blown away by her, so I'm always looking to her for inspiration." Seriously, are you weeping yet?

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend

In July 2016, Chrissy Teigen reminisced about the beginning of her relationship with husband John Legend. "Back to where it all began — Lake Como, Italy — first came here in 2007," she captioned a selfie with the singer. "A boat tour guide took us to a little spot on the lake and told us to make a wish. I asked for this to be the man I marry and have children with. I think John asked for the most perfect bite of cacio e pepe. Both came true, and here we are."

In August 2016, Legend told Entertainment Tonight how he fell for Teigen in part because of her epic Twitter presence. "I fell in love with her over the phone because she is good with those 140 characters! We were texting a lot, and I started to see her sense of humor. We would talk on the phone, and I started to fall in love with how engaging and witty and funny she is, and I think that's when I really started to know that this was the kind of person I wanted to around a lot," Legend said. "Once we started spending more time together between tour stops... we realized we had such a connection — and then it blossomed into a marriage and a baby."

He added, "I wasn't nervous about it. When you feel a real connection to somebody, for me it wasn't nerves, it was more like excitement!"

Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn

Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn don't need a legally binding contract or matching rings to show their love, because they can't stop gushing over one another all the time, and it remains the cutest. When Russell was inducted onto the Hollywood Walk of Fame in May 2017 (on a star neighboring Hawn's, who was inducted in the same ceremony), he told her in his speech, "Goldie to you, I owe my wonderful life. Simply put Goldie, I cherish you. All of the stars in the sky or the boulevard don't hold a candle to that. There's no one else I'd rather be next to than Goldie Hawn."

His heartfelt speech took even Hawn by surprise. She admitted to People, "[The ceremony] turned out to be a lovefest. The last thing he said was, 'I'll always cherish you.' I didn't expect him to say those things. I had no idea he was going to be so beautiful."

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Lauren Hashian

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson may be hard-bodied, but he's a big softie when it comes to Lauren Hashian, his girlfriend of more than a decade and mother of his 1-year-old daughter Jasmine — and he makes sure the world knows about it. He told Esquire in June 2015, "I've lived with my longtime girlfriend, Lauren Hashian, going on, like, eight, nine years now. We do these stories and we talk so much about the business end, the success end, but then Lauren isn't mentioned and my daughter isn't mentioned. I always like making sure we find the balance and my home life is in there and Lauren Hashian is in there and my daughter is in there. You gotta get the better half in there. With all the cool s**t and success that I've been lucky enough to get? That doesn't happen unless the home life is solid."

He also gushed to The Hollywood Reporter of Hashian in June 2014, "She embraced and loved me at my very worst and lifted me up to be my very best." Sounds like he should thank her for his Sexiest Man Alive title!

Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden

Though Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden generally fly under the radar, they're open about their admiration for one another.

In July 2016, she gushed of her Good Charlotte rocker hubby on Instagram, "One of my favorite things about being married, is how much pride I take in my husband @benjaminmadden.... He makes me proud everyday. One day it might be how generous and giving, another how gentle and thoughtful. Or when he is fiercely protective of the people he loves and cares about.... And everyday single day I am so incredibly proud of his integrity as a human being."

She also told Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM radio show later that year in April, "Nothing matters now that I have my husband. You realize like, 'Oh right, this is what the real thing is, this is what real love is and this is what commitment and devotion is.'"

Madden bragged about Diaz to Newsweek the same week, "I'm extremely proud of what she uses her platform for.... She's a modern day feminist.... I'm proud of her because of what a light she is in a world where it would be so much easier to use that stage to promote products. But she's using that platform she has to share positivity. It's been one of the most inspirational things in my life watching a woman be so courageous... she's got so much integrity. I'm a lucky guy that I get to experience that."

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum

Channing Tatum really loves Jenna Dewan-Tatum. In fact, he loves her so much that it was hard to narrow down the sweetest thing he's ever said about her, because he says so many.

In November 2014, he told People at the Foxcatcher (2014) premiere of his wife, "She keeps us all sane. Jenna puts everything in perspective for me, always. I'll find myself spinning out or angry or whatever, or even happy, and she always somehow ends up righting the ship."

In May 2016, the Magic Mike XXL (2015) star gushed in a Mother's Day Instagram post of Dewan-Tatum and daughter Everly, "[Dewan-Tatum] has such deep strength and otherworldly grace. Watching her in those first days transform into a mother was life changing. She was every bit the beautiful, sexy, funny, flawed creature I fell in love with. But the prism turned and showed a whole new light that I had no idea existed, the light of a mother's love. Thank you for that baby."

George and Amal Clooney

Considering Amal Clooney is basically perfect, it's no surprise that George would wax poetic about her. During his 2015 Golden Globes acceptance speech, the actor said, "It's a humbling thing when you find someone to love, even better if you've been waiting your whole life, and when your whole life is 53 years... Amal, whatever alchemy it is that brought us together, I couldn't be more proud to be your husband."

Chris Pratt and Anna Faris

Anna Faris and Chris Pratt reaffirm our faith in love regularly, but their sweet speeches at Pratt's Hollywood Walk of Fame induction ceremony in April 2017 may take the cake for the sweetest.

Introducing her husband, Faris said (via People), "I'm the beneficiary of all this because I get to spend every day with this wonderful man.... I know that if our circumstances were different and we weren't as fortunate to be standing here and living our Hollywood life, we would be happy in the woods together, I think.... He stood by me and held me and was my anchor," she said. "At the premiere of Guardians 2, on the red carpet he whispered something unbelievably inappropriate into my ear and it was awesome. Honey, I want to thank you for being the most incredible person. I love you so much."

Pratt reciprocated in kind. "I want to thank my wife Anna, I love you. You've given me so much... and without it none of this means anything to me. With every challenge, with every day, week, month, decade, we become more bonded. You make me laugh like nobody else. You're very caring, and thank you for your trust and your sacrifice — and for your dedication and your heart. I will do my best to protect it, and in return I will give you all of those things as well. You have my heart, my dedication, my trust."

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi

Comedian and daytime TV queen Ellen DeGeneres adores wife Portia De Rossi, whom she married in 2008. "I'm grateful for everything. I'm grateful for my health, and I'm so grateful for the love in my life. Because not everybody finds that. Not everybody finds that best friend," DeGeneres told People in October 2016. "Portia and I constantly say to each other, 'We are so lucky.' Sometimes it's lying in bed at night before I go to sleep, and I just say 'thank you' to whatever, whoever is out there. I've gotten to a place where I really am just settled. Really. I know that I'm not going anywhere. She's not going anywhere. I'm not saying the relationship took a while; I'm saying in my life, it took a while to find this."

Adam Brody and Leighton Meester

Adam Brody is so smitten with wife Leighton Meester that he was almost at a loss for words. When asked in a Reddit AMA what his favorite thing is about Meester, Brody replied, "Too many to count. She's THE BEST."

Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon

After almost 30 years together, Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon are as smitten as ever. She told Redbook, "When he walks into a room, I'm still... I mean, my heart gets a little fluttery and I think, 'Oh! He's so cute. He's so hot!' That's literally the first thing I think. You can ask people on the set — it's palpable. He's still a mystery to me. And getting older together is scary and exciting."

Beyonce and Jay Z

Beyonce really is crazy in love with Jay Z. She told Oprah in 2013, "I would not be the woman I am if I did not go home to that man. It just gives me such a foundation.... He has helped me on so many levels. We were friends first, for a year and a half, before we went on any date. On the phone for a year and a half. And that foundation is so important in a relationship. And just to have someone that you just like is so important. And someone that is honest."

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani

Blake Shelton gushes about Gwen Stefani so much that it can actually get a little annoying... but it's usually pretty precious.

He told Entertainment Tonight in May 2017, "Being in the vicinity of her is unbelievable. Oh my God, at some point, it kinda builds your ego up when you walk into a room with Gwen. But also it's a crushing blow to your ego when you realize all the cheers and people shouting at you. You realize it's not you, it's her! But it's still exciting at the same time."

Days earlier, he gloated at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, "I already felt like the luckiest guy in the room anyway because Gwen is here with me."

Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness

Hugh Jackman and wife Deborra-Lee Furness are madly in love after more than two decades together. He told Ellen DeGeneres, "[Marriage] gets better and better, I can honestly say that.... She's the greatest thing that ever happened to me.... I'm kind of really grateful that I met her before anything kind of happened [in my career]. Everything that's happened in my career and onscreen, offscreen, we've always done it together."

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith

Will Smith said of wife Jada Pinkett-Smith at VH1's Dear Mama event in 2016 (via People), "Jada is magical. Part of why I love her is things happen in a way they shouldn't happen, they shouldn't go that way. She has this magical power."

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West

Kanye West delivered his signature braggadocio about then-fiancee (now wife) Kim Kardashian in an interview with Ryan Seacrest in 2013. "I'm around her because, I mean, she's awesome, and she looks amazing and she's a sweet person," he said. "It's just too many benefits in stuff. It's an unfair level of awesomeness in one person. To be that smart, to be that nice. To be blatantly fine as hell. One of the most beautiful people of all time. It's not hard to wake up to."

Kevin Hart and Eniko Parrish

Funnyman Kevin Hart is dead serious about how wonderful his wife Eniko Parrish is.

"I found somebody who put a smile on my face. I found somebody who genuinely made me happy — which people don't realize is not an easy task," he told xoNecole. "You know, the word 'happy' is a strong word. I'm not talking about facilitating happiness, I'm talking about genuinely making me happy. And she does that. Eniko is a strong woman in my life... and the way that she stepped up to the plate and just accepted me for who I am, accepted me as a man coming in with kids and not even blinking an eye. I think she's shown that she's a woman who has my back... and right now, the one thing I can say is right is having that woman in my life."

Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman

Though Anne Hathaway's 2013 Oscar acceptance speech was widely maligned, but her dedication to Adam Shulman was heartwarming. "My husband," she said. "By far and away, the greatest moment of my life is the one when you walked into it. I love you so much."

Four years later, she told Elle, "He changed my ability to be in the world comfortably. I think the accepted narrative now is that we, as women, don't need anybody. But I need my husband. His unique and specific love has changed me."

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban can be over the top about their Down Under romance. She told Vogue in August 2015 that she swooned when she watched her husband in an impromptu jam session. "I looked up at him at one point and I saw his tattoos and his foot going," she said. "And he had the guitar, and I was like, 'God, I love that man. I'm so glad I'm in this world.'"

Urban told People of Kidman in 2016, "She's my best friend. I've never had anybody on the planet that knows me as well as she does. I would love to have been worthy of somebody like Nic, but I was a long way from it when we met. Somehow we just found there was love there, real love. I literally just feel like the luckiest guy on the planet." Urban also noted to CBS Sunday Morning that when he met the Oscar winner, "[It] wasn't life-changing, it was life-beginning. It was literally, like, 'OK, life starts.'"

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel

Justin Timberlake is head over heels for wife Jessica Biel. He told Ellen DeGeneres in 2013, "Every once in awhile I can catch a glimpse of her when she doesn't see me looking and I have this moment where I'm like, "If you never make a good decision... if you only make bad decisions for the rest of your life, you made one really good decision because she's just like ... it's nice to marry your friend. It's nice to marry your best friend. It suits me."

On Biel's birthday in March 2017, Timberlake wrote on Instagram, "You make me laugh. You make me smile. You make me LOVE. You make me want to be BETTER. Speaking of, it doesn't get any BETTER than you... Now, I know for sure that it's BETTER to be lucky than good. Ask me who the luckiest guy in the world is and I will tell you that you are looking at him."

How to wax poetic about the one you love

These stars may have inspired you to shout your own sweet nothings from the rooftops, that's great. Just don't go with Russell Wilson route: the New York Daily News reports that the NFL star apparently Googled "how to describe a beautiful woman" to make a few highly-publicized posts about his wife, singer Ciara — and the Internet won't let him forget it. Whatever you do, be sincere and be original... and maybe don't post it on social media unless you're sure your partner is okay with it.
