What Are Emma Corrin's Pronouns?

Emma Corrin had only appeared in a few TV shows before making waves on Netflix's acclaimed series, "The Crown," per IMDb. But critics quickly took notice of the new starlet, and the actor's portrayal of the late Princess Diana won a Golden Globe and snagged an Emmy nomination.

"The Crown" wasn't the only time the actor has played a real person; in 2021, Corrin appeared in a play on London's West End called "Anna X" based on the incredible story of Anna Sorokin, aka Anna Delvey, who was the basis of Netflix's "Inventing Anna" which came out in 2022.

Corrin took to Instagram to celebrate the Emmy nomination for "The Crown," just as the actor has shared exciting career news, like upcoming roles and brand collaborations with Miu Miu and Levi's. Corrin has posted photos with actress Tommy Dorfman and other young stars, including Kamala Harris' step-daughter Ella Emhoff and actress Diana Silvers. And the actor has also used the platform to open up about timely personal and political issues.

The actor is invested in LGBTQ+ visibility

"The Crown" actor Emma Corrin sat down with ITV Granada in 2021 to discuss new projects and her presence in cultural conversations happening via social media. Corrin's interviewer asked about her recent posts acknowledging her identity as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. The actor, who uses both she and they pronouns, according to their Instagram, shared that it was nerve-wracking, but ultimately rewarding, to let the public in on a still-evolving journey of growth and discovery. She told ITV, "When I started posting about it, it felt very sort of scary and revealing and I wasn't sure if it was the right thing to do, but the feedback I got from other people in the queer community has been wonderful."

She stands behind her decision to post about her personal life since the community has lacked role models for so long. "I think visibility is key with these things." She shared. "I felt it because I think my journey's been a long one, and I still got a way to go. I think that we're so used to defining ourselves and that's the way sadly society works is within these binaries."

Emma Corrin is on a mission to break down the gender binary

Emma Corrin is actively challenging gender binaries through their social media, changing the pronouns in their Instagram bio to she/they, meaning that either works for her, and posting to Instagram with the caption, "ur fave queer bride" for their shoot with the pop magazine.

They also opened up about experimenting with binding their chest and shared that they get binders from gc2b and also shouted out spectrumoutfitters. Corrin captioned the post, a series of black and white photos taken by David-Simon Dayan, saying, "some time before I bought my first proper binder, messing around with @sirdavidsimon, we used boxing wrap, thanks for capturing this with me, very intimate, very new, very cool. It's all a journey right. Lots of twists and turns and change and that's ok!"

Emma Corrin ultimately had a positive message for anyone learning about their identity and gender expression, which might include seeing if binding is right for them. They wrote, "Embrace it. Bind safely, find what works for you."
