James Corden Makes A Big Career Change That Has Everyone Talking
It's hard to imagine "The Late Late Show" without its host James Corden. He's been leading the nighttime CBS show since 2015 (via IMDb). With Corden as host, the show has been nominated for multiple awards at the Primetime Emmy Awards, and it took home wins on several occasions. Corden, who has come under fire for certain segments of the show, is perhaps best known for his entertaining and impressive "Carpool Karaoke" bit. Over the last seven seasons, the recurring program featured icons like Adele, a pre-breakup One Direction, Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, BTS, and Paul McCartney.
Many of his other sketches on the show, including one where the London-native danced in a rat suit while promoting his film "Cinderella," have gone viral. Corden also hasn't shied away from pursing other endeavors like acting in mostly musical films including "Cats" and "The Prom." However, the actor, comedian, singer, producer, writer, and television host recently announced that there will one less project for him in the mix.
James Corden is leaving The Late Late Show in 2023
James Corden announced that he'll be leaving "The Late Late Show" in summer 2023, which will then mark eight and a half years of his tenure as host. "It's been it's a really hard decision to leave because I'm so immensely proud of the show," Corden said in a statement to Deadline.
After the news officially broke, he further discussed his decision on the same show that made him a household name. "When I started this journey, it was always going to be just that," Corden told his audience holding back tears (via YouTube). "I never saw it as my final destination. I never want this show to overstay its welcome in any way. I always want to love making it and I really think in a year from now, that will be a good time to move on and see what else might be out there."
Corden reassured fans who let out an audible gasp that his last year hosting the show will be filled with more "Carpool Karaoke," "Crosswalks," and other surprises to go out with a bang.
