Love the skin you're in. That's our motto. After all, your skin can be exposed to many harsh elements on a daily basis, especially during these long summer days in the sun. To help your skin recover from the wear and tear, it's important to give it five-star treatment every single day. We know that everyone is busy and has a ton to do, but starting a skincare regime that will keep your skin healthy is something that definitely pays off in the long run. Debra Jaliman, MD of WebMD reminds us that healthy skin reflects a healthy life. So, why not start a healthy skin regime now?

One skincare regime that's got everyone talking is the popular K-beauty trend labeled "jello skin." Yes, the similarity between the trend and your favorite childhood snack is no coincidence. The trend is all about making your skin appear similar to the deliciously sweet treat.

It started on TikTok with AVA

"Jello skin" is a term coined by Ava Lee or AVA, a popular skincare guru who goes by @glowwithava on TikTok. In a video that's now gone viral, AVA asks a question we'd all like to know: How can you tell if you have enough collagen in your skin? The video cuts to AVA's skincare specialist praising the tautness of her facial skin as Lee relaxes in a spa chair. The specialist comments that her skin doesn't jiggle when it's tapped but instead "bounces" back to its original position. This is, he insists, the sign of healthy, firm skin. "It's like the perfect consistency of Jell-O," he tells viewers. "That's the perfect sign that you have beautiful level of collagen on the skin."

It's the comparison we never knew we needed but now we can't get enough of. Jello skin is skin that feels firm and looks dewy and wrinkle-free. Firmness is a must. According to Healthline, having firm skin is one way to denote signs of aging. Luckily, there are many techniques available to get your skin looking and feeling like jello, too.

Scout out Vitamin B3 in your beauty products

Charlotte Tillbury's Glow Toner is one of TikTok star AVA's favorite products. This acid-free toner is the perfect way to get your skin ready for the day. It minimizes your pores, giving you that smooth, Jell-O-like consistency.

Glow Toner contains niacinamide, which we like to call nature's essential beauty element. Niacinamide is a type of vitamin B3 that skincare gurus can't get enough of. This powerful nutrient has a ton of great benefits for your skin, and including it in your everyday beauty routine can help reduce redness, inflammation, and has even been known to prevent skin cancer (via SELF).

If that's not enough to sell you on Glow Toner, Healthline also states that niacinamide helps in the production of keratin. You've probably seen keratin listed among the ingredients in your hair products. That's because this protective protein is what makes up your hair, skin, and nails. The more you have, the healthier, firmer, and stronger all three of these things will become.

Jello skin begins with healthy choices

Lotion, creams, and masks are all powerful beauty products we love to use, but they all have one thing in common: they only go skin-deep. But what if we keep getting breakouts or can't beat the little suitcases that keep popping up beneath our eyes? If how our skin appears is a reflection of our overall health, then beauty truly does begin on the inside.

In an interview with Elite Daily, AVA stresses the importance of taking care of your health to achieve your outer beauty goals. She calls her jello skin achievement a lifestyle that focuses on "internal wellness and external skincare." We couldn't agree more; taking care of your health is an important factor in maintaining healthy skin.

One way AVA says she lives a jello skin lifestyle is by making healthy breakfast choices. In an adorable short video shared on TikTok, AVA and her mom go over the recipe for a tasty homemade yogurt with sliced mango on the side. The beauty food combo is something the duo calls jello skin approved.
