Although talk of Will Smith's Oscar slap appears to have subsided, it continues to be discussed, with Chris Rock himself making a joke after Dave Chappelle was attacked on stage, asking, "Was that Will Smith?" Venus Williams and Amy Schumer also have some extra thoughts on the subject.
Schumer co-hosted the 2022 Academy Awards, alongside Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall, so she had a front-row seat to the slap. In an interview, Schumer stated that Rock is doing well in the wake of the incident, stating that "He's such a badass and I'm so proud of him.”
Tennis icon Venus Williams stated that she is still proud of "King Richard," the biopic about her father in which Smith featured, as well as the fact that Smith won the best actor award for his portrayal. However, Williams made no mention of the slap.
