Queen Elizabeth’s passing was a sad moment for the people of Britain, but the time for mourning her death has come to a close. The royal family is beginning to solidify King Charles III’s reign by releasing his new royal cypher.
The cypher was personally chosen by Charles, featuring a C for Charles and an R for the Latin word rex, which means king. The Roman numeral for three is placed inside the R, and a kingly crown sits above the lettering.
Buckingham Palace said replacing the queen’s cypher with the new king’s "will be at the discretion of individual organizations, and the process will be gradual." Charles’ cypher will appear on post boxes, letters, coins, military and police uniforms, and official state documents.
