Donald Trump's intent to run for the office again in 2024 has received mixed reactions. Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina encouraged Trump to begin his campaign as soon as possible, but others are concerned about his legal troubles; however, Trump's future campaign may be an insidious way of dealing with his current controversies.
There are speculations that Trump’s main motivation to run for office is to halt further legal investigations against him. The former president is currently embroiled in two criminal investigations, plus recent allegations of election interference and financial crimes. Several sources close to Trump have commented on this theory.
One insider says that Trump has "spoken about how when you are the president of the United States, it is tough for politically motivated prosecutors to 'get to you.'" The source added that Trump views his legal troubles as "the Biden administration working to hit him with criminal charges — or even put him and his people in prison."
