Dove Cameron has made a name for herself by being a great singer and actress, especially with her new hit song, “Boyfriend.” Cameron used the lyrics to come out as bisexual and she isn’t afraid to openly talk about her role in the LGBTQIA+ community.
Cameron opened up on Instagram about her issues and identity with a captioned post of herself crying stating, “identity vs the self !!! depression & dysphoria.” She explained she felt she could never have her self and identity “hold hands,” and that “self is someone i feel i have always deeply known, someone i deeply love and protect,” while “identity and the self have always been diametrically opposed.”
She seems hopeful because she notes, “there is room for us to talk about the things that terrify us.” Her fans expressed their love and gratefulness for her being open about struggles that others similarly face, and other celebrities, like Amanda Seyfried, showed her support by writing, “We are all holding hands.”
