Todd and Julie Chrisley are best known for their reality shows “Chrisley Knows Best” and “Growing up Chrisley,” which follow their family's everyday exploits and lavish lifestyles. However, Mama and Papa Chrisley have been the center of quite a few scandals, including some serious criminal charges.
As of 2022, the Chrisley couple faces charges including bank fraud, tax fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States, wire fraud, and obstruction of justice. Their accountant, Peter Tarantino, has also been charged with fraud and falsifying tax returns, and will stand trial alongside the Chrisleys; their Atlanta court date is May 16.
Todd and Julie maintain their innocence and say they “always believed that the truth would prevail.” The couple claim that their charges are false accusations made by a vengeful employee, who “took a bunch of his phony documents to the U.S. Attorney’s office” to make it seem like the TV family was involved in financial crimes.
