The British royal family has undergone substantial changes in recent years. While Queen Elizabeth II was struggling with her health issues and the death of her husband, Prince Phillip, she was also dealing with her second son, Prince Andrew, getting sued by Virginia Guiffre, a woman who claimed the prince sexually abused her when she was a teenager.
Despite the fact that Prince Andrew walked alongside his mother at Prince Philip's one-year memorial on March 29, Prince Charles and Prince William may not want him to play such a prominent role at Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebration on June 2. The Queen wants him there, but Prince Charles has already advised Prince Andrew to lay low.
Charles is also unhappy with Andrew, because he informed his family that the incident would blow over when Giuffre initially made charges against him. In 2021, however, Giuffre's lawsuit made news, with royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams questioning why Andrew settled out-of-court in February 2022 while continuing to insist he did nothing wrong.
While Prince Charles and Prince William may want Prince Andrew to avoid Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee, the Queen “wholeheartedly loves and believes her son." A source said that Andrew expects to be by his mother's side to assist her in at least one of the Jubilee events, the Epsom Derby.
