Eloise’s Complaining
Eloise Bridgerton is clearly the “woke” character of “Bridgerton,” bringing modern feminist ideals into the early 1800s. However, not all fans feel the love for Eloise's rebellious ways, with one Reddit user saying, “Her issues with gender norms make her look like a [spoiled] brat with no real troubles in her life.”
Penelope’s Praising
Penelope Featherington constantly asserting how groundbreaking and altruistic her actual writing is as Lady Whistledown doesn't sit well with fans. Even Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope, recognizes this unpopular character quirk, saying “There's a certain level of cockiness to her this season.”
Edwina's Manners
In Season 2 of “Bridgerton,” fans meet Edwina Sharma, a mild-mannered and polite young woman, but fans complain ‌Edwina is almost too agreeable, leaving her lacking any sort of humanity or nuance. “Seriously, was [Edwina] even a character?” one fan asks, “She spends the first half of the season being overly nice to everyone.”
Kate's India Escape
Kate Sharma threatens to return to India at least four times in the second season of "Bridgerton," ‌using the threat as a tactic to escape her problems. "A lot of the plot was super repetitive," one fan said, citing Kate's threat to return to India as an example.
Kate & Anthony’s Duties
Kate Sharma and Anthony Bridgerton did not let fans forget about their duties as the oldest in their families. One fan said, “ [Kate and Anthony] was hot early on, but it became almost annoying to watch [...] Then they would go into another monologue about their duties as being the oldest and putting their happiness on hold for others.”
