The popularity ratings of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle dropped significantly after they stepped down in January 2020, and it fell even further after their March 2021 Oprah interview. Harry currently stands at a 42% favorable/33% negative rating, while Meghan is a bit more split at a 38% favorable/36% negative rating, with the 50+ crowd taking a particular disliking towards them.
The good news for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex is they aren’t the most disliked members of the British royal family – that title goes to Prince Andrew. The British public has disliked the Queen’s third child for a long time, but his involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal sent his favorability rating plummeting to only 5%, with 85% having a negative view of him (Somehow, 10% had no opinion).
The Platinum Jubilee offers Prince Harry and Meghan Markle an opportunity to salvage their popularity among the British public, who are clamoring to see the Sussexes' children, Archie and Lilibet. All eyes will be watching to see how Harry and Meghan interact with their children, as well as other members of the royal family, particularly the 96-year-old Queen.
