When "One Life to Live" aired its last episode in 2012, ABC announced that a handful of "OLTL" characters would be joining its only remaining soap, "General Hospital."
Accordingly, Todd Manning (Roger Howarth), Blair Cramer (Kassie DePaiva), Starr Manning (Kristen Alderson), and John McBain (Michael Easton) moved to fictional Port Charles.
The characters quickly integrated themselves, but the endeavor was short-lived, as the production company of "OLTL," Prospect Park, claimed they owned the rights to the characters.
Although the network and production company had tried to work out a way to share the characters, it wasn’t firmed up, so Prospect Park sued ABC for airing them on a different show.
When Prospect Park filed its lawsuit, the four characters all left Port Charles as quickly as they came, but all was not lost for the actors who portrayed them.
In 2013, ABC announced that three of the performers, Howarth, Alderson, and Easton, would be returning to "GH" but as entirely new characters that had nothing to do with "OLTL."
Kassie DePaiva found work on NBC's "Days of Our Lives" in 2014 instead, and in 2015, Alderson left “OLTL,” and Hayley Erin took over her role.
In 2016, a judge dismissed Prospect Park's lawsuit against ABC, and the network won the rights to its soap opera characters back.
While the original characters who made their way to "General Hospital" in 2012 never returned, "OLTL" attorney Nora Buchanan has since come to Port Charles sporadically.
