Like so many graduating high schoolers, Malia Obama went on the university hunt. The first daughter scouted several Ivy League schools before settling on Harvard, her parents’ alma mater.
Michelle Obama said in 2012 that her daughter had “an interest in filmmaking,” and she would go on to work as a production assistant on “Extant” and “Girls.” Malia decided to take a gap year before attending Harvard, allowing her to travel to South America and Indonesia.
As an undergrad, Malia majored in Visual and Environmental Studies, which makes sense, given her interest in filmmaking. Malia’s experience at Harvard landed her a writing job for the TV series “Hive.”
