CBD, also known as cannabidiol, is a legal and extremely popular chemical derived from the hemp plant that is purported to have various health benefits, and may even treat or reduce symptoms of some illnesses. CBD has been widely used to treat those with depression, insomnia, and anxiety, and it may even assist patients with Alzheimer’s.
While there is no concrete link between CBD and Alzheimer’s, initial studies show that patients who take CBD are better able to manage their anger and anxiety resulting from their illness. A 2019 study published by the National Library of Medicine also found that CBD can help with memory loss, especially when mixed with THC, another hemp derivative.
CBD can also help with high blood pressure, epilepsy, and much more, but there are many ways to ingest CBD and it can be hard to decide which is best for each patient. If you or a loved one have a serious medical condition, always speak with a doctor before trying CBD and ask for guidance in choosing a product, since there are also many potential side effects.
