King Charles III’s diagnosis
was announced after he was hospitalized for a procedure to correct an enlarged prostate. The diagnosis could cause some shake-ups in the royal family.
The Buckingham Palace statement says, “[The king] has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties,” meaning there will be other royals picking up the slack.
Likely, Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, and William, Prince of Wales will be at more public engagements. Catherine, Princess of Wales, is still recovering from her own surgery.
There is no information about the extent of the King’s condition, but Prince William will likely be under scrutiny. There might be speculation about an abdication of the throne.
