HGTV's “House Hunters” premiered all the way back in 1999, and now there are hundreds and hundreds of fun episodes to binge. However, no reality show is free from negative press and exposés, especially when it comes to what’s authentic and what’s not — and viewers may be shocked by how long it actually takes to film an episode of this series.
Filming an episode of "House Hunters" can take months, and one couple revealed that they filmed their old house for the show, then waited months to tour new houses in front of the camera. A realtor on the show added the couples take about an hour in each room during tours, resulting in up to eight hours spent in just one house.
“House Hunters” has 204 seasons, 538 episodes, and 16 spinoffs, which is a whole lot of time for homebuyers and realtors to come forward with their experiences. One realtor said it was extremely difficult to even find clothing she could wear without interfering with the camera, and contestants are typically paid only $5,000, while episode budgets are ten times that amount.
