In his book, "Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing," Matthew Perry was candid about his struggles with addiction. The idea of supporting people became his mission.
According to friends, Perry was developing a foundation to help those with addictions at the time of his passing. They created the "Matthew Perry Foundation" in his honor.
The foundation's website features a quote that encapsulates Perry's vision for his legacy, which was to be known for his service to others, rather than his role on "Friends."
Perry said, "Addiction is far too powerful for anyone to defeat alone. But together, one day at a time, we can beat it down." The organization is now seeking donations.
While Perry won't get to see his foundation at work, he was able to help others before his passing through acts like sponsoring members of Alcoholics Anonymous.
