How Was Nathan West Killed On General Hospital?

Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) was a genuine "General Hospital" hero, first arriving in Port Charles in 2013 as a new PCPD cop transplanted from New York City. He found immediate chemistry with Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) when he sublet her apartment for a few months.
Soon, fans learned how he had a sister in a coma for 20 years and why he suspected her husband Dr. Silas Clay (Michael Easton) of putting her there. When Nina finally woke from her coma, he learned that his mother, Madeline Reeves (Donna Mills), had been the one to put her there.
It was revealed his real mother was Madeline's sister, Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), and his father wasn't Victor Cassadine (then played by Thaao Penghlis). That's when a news article lured his evil father, Cesar Faison (Anders Hove), out of hiding, and he took Maxine hostage. Nathan attempted a rescue, but his father fatally shot him by accident.
