Britney Spears and Mariah Carey, two of the world's top pop performers, marked the beginning and end of the 1990s. Spears credits Carey as "one of the key reasons [she] started singing," so it's clear that Carey has had a significant impact on Spears' life.

During Spears' conservatorship, Carey reached out to her, telling an outlet, "I think everybody deserves on this planet to be free and what [the press] did to her, what I saw, was horrific. She went on to add, "So I reached out to her through a mutual friend because I wanted her to know: 'Guess what? You're not alone.'"
