Adoption
After a heartbreaking ectopic pregnancy, Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise were able to adopt Isabella Jane Cruise, and were even lucky enough to hold her the day she was born — December 22, 1992. To Kidman, this proved to be a momentous occasion, as she felt an instant connection with the newborn.
Lived With Dad
When Cruise and Kidman divorced in 2001, they had shared custody of their kids, Isabella and Connor — but the kids decided to live with their dad in Los Angeles. Kidman seemingly didn't want to force the issue, as she felt they were old enough to decide what was best for them.
Rumors
In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Tom said if a rumor came out in the press that caused Isabella and Connor Cruise to react negatively, he'd reiterate that everything is okay and not to get caught up with the media. "They've grown up with that ... I'm sure there's stuff that they don't like,'" he said.
Hairdresser
Isabella enrolled in Sassoon Academy in London to pursue a career in cosmetology, and ended up getting a job as a hairdresser. She also attended the prestigious Delamar Academy of Make-Up and Hair, seemingly to pursue a career in hair and make-up artistry in the TV and film industry.
Suppressed
Knowing Kidman had left Scientology, Leah Remini says she asked Isabella if she saw her mom very often, and she told her, "Not if I have a choice. Our mom is a f***ing SP [Suppressed Person]" (via Us Weekly). Within the church, an "SP" is a label used to describe anyone who opposes Scientology.
