The late Matthew Perry shared a close and affectionate relationship with his stepfather, Keith Morrison, an Emmy Award-winning journalist and Canadian correspondent for "Dateline."
Soon after the birth of the beloved "Friends" sitcom star, his parents, John Bennett Perry and Suzanne Langford Perry, divorced. Suzanne then married Morrison in 1981.
Morrison often spoke fondly of Perry, recalling in a 2020 interview how his stepson always seemed to light up a room and how he was intensely talented and bright from a young age.
"He was extremely, extremely good on the tennis court and very intense," Morrison said of Perry, adding, "He's very bright. That was always the case as he was growing up."
During a 2017 appearance on "Watch What Happens Live," Morrison told host Andy Cohen that he always believed Perry would become famous one day, thanks to his natural charisma.
When asked about the benefits of being Perry's stepfather, he responded enthusiastically, "There are dozens of them." He also recalled a thoughtful gift from Perry — a car.
