Matthew Perry's unexpected death on October 28, 2023, sparked conversations about his public struggle with alcohol and opioids, and some questioned if he had relapsed.
An initial toxicology report showed no traces of fentanyl or meth, common culprits in opioid-related deaths. Additional testing will take four to six months to complete.
Further tests will look into whether there were other substances in his system, such as alcohol, cannabis, cocaine, and prescription drugs like antipsychotics and benzodiazepines.
For now, the cause of the star’s death has been listed as "deferred" by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office, meaning that it could not be determined from the autopsy.
