Meghan Markle has always had a strained relationship with her father, Thomas Markle. Her marriage to Prince Harry created even more distance between father and daughter, and Thomas Markle Jr. explained, “Dad never liked the limelight but since the news came out about Meghan and Harry he's become a total recluse.”
Despite Thomas Markle's dislike of the press, he's in the spotlight again due to a health scare. Thomas possibly suffered a stroke and was transported by ambulance from Tijuana, Mexico to Chula Vista, California to seek urgent medical care; he could not verbally communicate with EMTs and had an oxygen mask strapped to his face.
This isn’t the first Thomas has had a health scare, but it may be his first authentic one. He allegedly faked a heart attack to get out of attending his daughter’s wedding to Prince Harry; oddly enough, he also sold photos of himself “getting ready” for the wedding he didn’t attend, and got a big check from the press he hates so much.
