Queen Elizabeth has celebrated many firsts, including becoming the first British monarch to mark 70 years on the throne with a Platinum Jubilee. The Queen used this official public gala as an opportunity to honor British celebrities and ordinary citizens who have done things to change the world, from volunteering, to raising money, to performing arts.
This year, there are familiar faces being honored, including actor Damian Lewis, and fashion designer Stella McCartney, both of whom received the Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) honor. Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler received an MBE, which stands for Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.
Also, over 100 medical personnel working during the COVID pandemic have been honored by the Queen. At the 2022 Jubilee, the oldest honoree is 104-year-old Angela Redgrave, who created and runs the Bristol School of Dancing, and the youngest are 11-year-old twins Elena and Ruben Evans-Guillen, who raised £50,000 for NHS charities.
