The Platinum Jubilee will celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s 70th anniversary of being the U.K. and Commonwealth’s monarch, a milestone she reached on February 6. There will be over 400 singers performing during the big weekend, and Ed Sheeran is officially headlining the last night of the event on June 5th.
Sheeran stated (per People Magazine), “I am looking forward to performing at The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Pageant in June. I'm proud to be part of the celebration and it's going to be a great opportunity to bring everyone together.” There is no word yet on what his setlist will be for the event.
The Platinum Jubilee will not be Sheeran’s first encounter with royalty. He performed at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert for her 60th anniversary in 2012, and was awarded an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) by Prince Charles in 2017.
