Despite Steve Harvey's bout of commercial success in the 1990s and early 2000s, he found himself in financial trouble after a divorce from his second wife, Mary Lee Harvey.
Harvey told "Club Shay Shay" that an unnamed individual stole the money he set aside for taxes, leaving him with a seven-year tax bill.
"The divorce was over. It was just, 'Let's split the assets,' but you took all the assets,' and I was stuck with this tax bill," Harvey explained to host Shannon Sharpe.
After the divorce settlement and repaying the IRS, Harvey was left with only $1,700. However, despite this 2005 setback, he was able to regain control of his finances.
The same year as his tax slip-up, Harvey launched "The Steve Harvey Morning Show," which helped him get back on his feet. As of September 2023, it's still on air.
Nowadays, Harvey is best known for being the host of ABC's "Family Feud," where he makes about $3.6 million per season. He’s now happily married to his third wife, Marjorie Harvey.
