"Only Murders in the Building," starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, became an immediate hit after its debut in 2021. The show has received a whopping 17 Emmy nominations for 2022; Martin and Short are on the ballot for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, but sadly, Gomez is nowhere to be found on the list.
Martin and Short expressed disappointment about Gomez not being nominated, with Martin saying, "We're dismayed that Selena was not nominated because she's so crucial to our performances, really." "Murders" co-creator John Hoffman agrees, calling Gomez "an essential part" of the series and saying he's proud of her achievements.
Gomez has yet to comment on the Emmy nominations, but has always been vocal about her love for the show. The star has spoken about how privileged she feels to be learning from comedy geniuses Martin and Short, calling them her "two crazy uncles," and the iconic actors are fittingly proud of their younger co-star's work.
