The Five-Minute Self-Care Activity That Can Change A Woman's Entire Day
Lifestyle - News
By ERIN METZ
This simple, five-minute self-care activity recommended by author Alexandra Elle is far less expensive than luxurious bubble baths, glasses of wine, or spa days full of high-end treatments. The secret is a combination of breath-control and mindfulness, and all you'll need for this little ritual is some mental focus.
To practice breath-control, find a comfortable and distraction-free spot, then breathe in through your nose, hold it, and breathe out through your mouth. Perform this activity for a minimum of five minutes to decompress and relieve stress. Meditation videos on YouTube or other breathing and meditation apps can provide great assistance.
Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment with an accepting, nonjudgmental disposition. Taking a few minutes to sit down and check-in with yourself during the day can do wonders. This practice can help with anxiety, depression, and body dysmorphia, and will lead to a healthier, happier brain and lifestyle.
