The riding accident
In 1994, Queen Elizabeth II broke her left wrist during a horse riding session. The injury was so minor that the queen didn't even realize she had broken a bone until 24 hours later, and the incident definitely didn't deter her from one of her favorite hobbies; she still enjoys horse riding to this day.
knee surgery
In 2003, the 76-year-old queen underwent knee surgery to remove torn cartilage, a result of an injury during a visit to Newmarket. While the 45-minute surgery was minor and the queen made a full recovery, this incident marks the first time she was seen using a walking cane to assist with her mobility.
gastroenteritis
In 2013, Queen Elizabeth was taken to the hospital as a "precautionary measure" for gastroenteritis, after she began experiencing symptoms of the common stomach flu. The queen was kept under supervision to ensure that she remained well-hydrated, and was discharged after a few days.
The heavy cold
Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip both caught "heavy colds" around Christmastime in 2016, and were forced to postpone their holiday travel plans to the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. Because of the delay, the two royals took a helicopter to Sandringham, rather than their usual train.
more complications
The queen unfortunately faced multiple health complications starting in 2021. She stayed overnight in the hospital in October of that year for "preliminary investigations," and the next month, Elizabeth missed the annual Remembrance Day Service after suffering a back injury.
