The 1980s saw a group of young stars, the Brat Pack, making headlines for their roles in movies like “The Breakfast Club” and “St. Elmo’s Fire.” Though only briefly mentioned in the 1985 article, one of the group’s core members was Andrew McCarthy, a star in “St. Elmo’s Fire” who later became Molly Ringwald’s upper-crust love interest in “Pretty in Pink.”
Nearly 30 years later, McCarthy joined the Hallmark family during Hallmark’s annual “Countdown to Christmas” series in 2012 with “Christmas Dance.” The actor plays Jack, an executive dating his boss’ sophisticated daughter, Demi, whom he wishes to propose to at her father’s yearly Christmas dance, and begins taking dance lessons.
The situation becomes more complicated as Jack develops feelings for his kind-hearted dance instructor, leaving the viewers wondering who he will end up with on Christmas. McCarthy has other Hallmark credits, including 2009’s “The National Tree” and 2003’s “Straight From the Heart” — Hallmark is scheduled to release new movies this holiday season.
