Jared Kushner, son-in-law to former president Donald Trump, served as senior advisor in the Trump administration. The Atlantic called Kushner the second most powerful man in the White House, but he and his wife Ivanka have stepped back from the Trump political name — but Kushner isn't fully done talking about his time under Donald.
In Kushner’s memoir, he revealed that he kept a secret from President Trump: a thyroid cancer diagnosis and subsequent surgery to remove a tumor, all while Kushner was still serving in the White House. At the time, he was in the process of a major trade conversation with China, and did everything he could to keep the scary health news away from Donald.
Kushner wrote that he found out about his test results while flying to Texas, and told Ivanka the following morning. The day before his surgery, Kushner met with the president in the Oval Office to tell him the news, but Trump had already found out about his son-in-law's upcoming procedure; regardless, Kushner's story is still news to the rest of us.
