Camilla Parker Bowles, the Duchess of Cornwall, is widely known as the woman who married Prince Charles following a scandalous affair and the death of Charles' former wife, Princess Diana. Questions regarding the circumstances of her relationship with Prince Charles, both before and after she married Andrew Parker Bowles, continue to swirl.
Camilla and Andrew began dating in 1965 after meeting at a debutante party, and the two had an on-again, off-again relationship for seven years, with the "off" episodes due to Andrew's infidelity. Camilla met Prince Charles at a polo match in 1970, and the two began their infamous affair until the prince went off to serve in the Royal Navy in 1973, which led to Camilla and Andrew getting married.
Andrew and Camilla married on July 4, 1973, and had two children, Laura Lopes and Tom Parker Bowles, before calling it quits after 20 years of marriage, allegedly due to Camilla's affair with Prince Charles, which they allegedly reignited in 1986. The couple announced their divorce in January 1995, after reportedly living apart for two years.
Prince Charles and Princess Diana formalized their divorce around the time Andrew remarried in 1996 to Rosemary Dickinson. Camilla and Prince Charles were able to keep their feelings for one another under wraps until their relationship became public in 1998, and the two married in 2005.
