Season 20 of “American Idol” has already seen plenty of impressive singers, but the clear front runner for many was 17-year-old Kenedi Anderson, who wowed the judges in her audition with a performance of Harry Styles’ “Adore You.” However, Anderson has now announced that she is withdrawing from the competition, right as the final 24 is getting underway.
Fans were confused to see the potential winner leave the show so suddenly, but Anderson took to Instagram to explain a bit. "For personal reasons, I'm unable to continue on 'American Idol,’” she said, calling it “one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make.”
On the show, she had said, “Music really is my therapy. Whenever I'm frustrated, whenever I'm feeling down, music is the one thing that has stuck with me.” One fan showed their surprise at Anderson’s departure, commenting on her Instagram post, “I literally gasped. I’m so sad. Well wishes to you.”
