Showbiz family
Beanie Feldstein was practically born into showbiz; her dad was a celebrity accountant, her mom was a fashion stylist, and one of her brothers is Jonah Hill! Feldstein specifically credits her mother for being her rock: "She gave me confidence and made me believe in myself, and taught me to be generous to myself too."
Acting at a young age
Feldstein landed her first professional role "My Wife and Kids" when she was only nine years old, but she had been acting on stage ever since age five. However, when Feldstein developed nodules on her vocal cords and lost her voice, she thought her dream was over — until speech therapy helped her relearn how to speak and sing.
Attending college
After high school, Feldstein attended Wesleyan University, and it was difficult for her to juggle her acting auditions with her schoolwork. She eventually chose to focus on college and paused her professional career, but continued to act while attending the university; she performed in 14 shows before graduating in 2015.
Big screen debut
In 2016, Feldstein was rejected after auditioning for a film, but the casting director called her back for a different movie, "Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising." Feldstein made her big screen debut in the college comedy, and recalls feeling blessed that her first big film was one of "female empowerment."
Body-image struggles
Feldstein was pressured to lose weight throughout her career, and “despised” the whole thing. She did end up losing weight unintentionally during her time on Broadway, but didn't appreciate the sudden change in attitude and flood of compliments from people around her, since she feels comments on her appearance are never warranted.
