Allison Janney and Octavia Spencer didn't like each other at first because they were both interested in the same man. They became fast friends after realizing they liked each other more than the man, and after over two decades, three films, and a TV series together, they're the type of BFFs that say "I love you" to each other multiple times during an interview.
There are countless traits that Janney admires about her pal, but her favorite is her storytelling, saying "I could just listen to her for hours, talking about her day or what crazy experience that she's gone through. She just knows how to tell a story. She is so opinionated and so fierce with what she believes." Janney claims she’s "been in love with Octavia forever."
Spencer is equally enamored of Janney, describing her as having "all the talent and all the tall gorgeousness," and calling her "one of the funniest, one of the most talented, one of the kindest people I know." Spencer admires how grounded her friend has remained throughout the years, despite her many achievements in film, television, and live theatre.
The two friends support each other through good times and bad, with Spencer saying "Even if we're going through some touchy things in life, [...] we're going to find a moment of levity to not be so hard on ourselves." Janney added, "She has been with me through some of my saddest, most challenging moments on this planet and also some of the biggest celebrations."
