Jennifer Lopez and P. Diddy began dating in 1999, making the pair one of the most powerful couples in entertainment. Although the singer and rapper were head over heels in love, scandals and behind-the-scenes turmoil would finally come between them.
They first met while working on Diddy's music video "Been Around the World" in 1997, and they collaborated on Lopez's debut album shortly after. Lopez added that after becoming friends, "we developed this bond," and from there, a romantic relationship grew.
Lopez and Diddy were arrested in December 1999, after Diddy got into an altercation with a man at a NYC club. They both fled the scene, but were subsequently stopped by police, who discovered a stolen weapon beneath the front seat under Lopez's feet, resulting in their arrests.
Lopez reflected on the time as a "crazy, heightened time in my life," revealing that she was continuously crying and "going nuts" while dating Diddy. The two finally broke up in 2001, after various issues, including infidelity, drove a wedge between them.
