Markle married movie producer Trevor Engelson in 2011, but the marriage ended two years later, in 2013. Because Engelson was in California and Markle was filming "Suits" in Toronto, Markle believed their marriage couldn't withstand a long-distance relationship.

Markle has been linked to a number of men, including actor Simon Rex in 2004, but he says that "nothing happened" between them. She is said to have dated golf pro Rory McIlroy in 2014 after her marriage to Engelson ended, and she was also romantically linked to celebrity chef Cory Vitiello in the same year.

Then she went on a blind date that would forever impact her life. Markle was visiting London in 2016 when she was introduced to Prince Harry by a mutual acquaintance, which led to the two getting married on May 19, 2018, at Windsor Castle. Today, they have two children, Archie and Lilibet Diana.
