Fans of “Welcome to Plathville” know that Olivia Plath, husband of Plath son Ethan, has always been something of an outsider. The Plath family’s daughter-in-law has definitely caused her fair share of disruption within the very strict Christian household.
Olivia comes from a religious background, so she actually met Ethan at a Christian family summer camp in 2014, and they got married in 2018. In an interview with People, Olivia said the family made her feel uncomfortable, particularly mom Kim, who criticized Olivia for everything she did.
Olivia works as a wedding photographer, giving her a further layer of independence outside the Plath family. In addition to her independence, some fans have theorized that the parents harbor extra disdain towards their daughter-in-law for becoming the the show’s breakout star.
