Princess of Wales
Kate Middleton is the first to use the title Princess of Wales since Diana Spencer and she paid homage to her late mother-in-law with this look. Kate wore pearl earrings and a Dolce & Gabbana coat dress reminiscent of Princess Diana’s 1988 look, which featured an A-line silhouette, rich black material, and gold buttons.
Head-to-Toe Blue
Kate was visiting Scotland in 2021 when she stepped out in a head-to-toe blue look, a nearly carbon-copy look of Princess Diana's stunning ensemble from a trip to South Korea. Kate clearly displayed care, time, and respect in order to pay ode to her mother-in-law.
Royal Ascot
Kate stepped out at the Royal Ascot in 2022 in a gorgeous Alessandra Rich polka dot dress, oozing a sense of grace, poise, and honor for her late mother-in-law. Diana wore a polka dot ensemble to the Royal Ascot in 1988, and the similarities are so apparent you'd think you're looking at the same dress.
Ladies in Gold
Kate’s choice of dress for a state dinner held by the head of state of Malaysia channeled Diana's stunning gold gown from the German Embassy in London in 1986. Kate had to take Malaysia's decency laws into consideration while Diana's outfit featured a strapless neckline, but the similarities are still there.
Skiing in Red
In 1985 and 1986, Diana sported scarlet all-in-one winter looks for skiing while wearing a chunky red headband. Fast forward to 2005, and Kate was photographed in Switzerland wearing a crimson ski jacket and red headband, clearly channeling her late mother-in-law.
