Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a potential front-runner in the 2024 presidential race, recently rejected an invitation to appear on talk show "The View." The Governor's press secretary Bryan Griffin responded to the invite on DeSantis’ behalf via a now-viral message on Twitter, leaving the ABC show high and dry — and widespread debate ensued.
In his tweet, Griffin boldly called out "The View" hosts Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin for their disses of DeSantis, including instances where Joy Behar called him a "homicidal sociopath" and Sunny Hostin referred to him as a "fascist" and a "bigot." Griffin prompted many Twitter users to either bash the talk show and or go in on the Governor.
One tweet called the talk show "a place to tear down and dunk on anything conservative or out of step with their viewpoints," but other users claimed that DeSantis is afraid of strong women and simply can't handle "The View." Another user pointed out that if the 2024 contender said "yes," it would be a ratings boon for ABC, but would likely do DeSantis no favors.
