The popular dating app, Bumble, formed a new trend by surveying if users would be open to starting a relationship with someone outside of their city, and when one-third said yes, the term ‘wanderlove’ was coined. A portmanteau of love and wanderlust, it combines being in a stable relationship with a passion for travel.
From weekend getaways spent seeing your partner, or traveling to new locations together, the relationship is heightened by forming meaningful memories with one another. Couples who travel together report higher rates of satisfaction in areas like communication and intimacy, and claim travel nurtures their relationship and keeps them strong.
Anyone who enjoys travel and is open to making connections can experience wanderlove. According to a poll of 2,000 Americans conducted by OnePoll for Exodus Travels, 23% of people met their spouse while on vacation — and the poll revealed that three in ten people have dated someone they met on a plane.
