Talent Show Winner
Olivia Newton-John loved singing — a skill she had embraced and begun honing during her teens. In 1964, Olivia won a talent contest led by Australian music legend Johnny O'Keefe, on the show "Sing, Sing, Sing," winning a trip to England where she began her rise to fame.
Married at 59
Olivia was the sweetheart of millions, but she had eyes for only one man: husband of 14 years John Easterling. It was her encounter with true love at the age of almost 60 that led Olivia to believe that "you're never too old to find love."
Motherhood
Olivia's only child is Chloe Lattanzi, whom she shares with ex-husband Matt Lattanzi. Olivia stated in her 2019 memoir, "Don't Stop Believin'" that she had many miscarriages during her parenthood journey, writing "Each time my heart was broken."
Psychedelic Ritual
On a trip to Peru, Olivia tried ayahuasca, a potent Amazonian hallucinogenic thought to have healing properties as part of an ancient Peruvian ritual. The potion had a strong effect on the star, who recalled hallucinating and having visions.
Unsure About Grease
The cult classic "Grease" may not have turned out like it did had Oliva not taken a leap of faith into the film. "I could not play a high school student at 28," she said, but the makers — and most of all John Travolta — thought Olivia was "the perfect Sandy, the ultimate Sandy."
