WHY SUPREME COURT JUSTICE SAMUEL ALITO PUBLICLY RAGGED ON PRINCE HARRY

In July of 2022, Prince Harry visited the United Nations to make the keynote speech in celebration of Nelson Mandela Day, and the British royal condemned the "rolling back of constitutional rights" in the United States, specifically the overturn of Roe v. Wade. Harry said, "we are witnessing a global assault on democracy and freedom, the cause of Mandela's life."
Samuel Alito, one of the Supreme Court justices responsible for overturning Roe v. Wade, mocked Harry's speech during a visit to the University of Notre Dame Law School in Rome. The judge joked, "what really wounded me was when the Duke of Sussex addressed the UN and seemed to compare the decision with the Russian attack on Ukraine."
Harry did notably mention the war in Ukraine alongside the Roe v. Wade decision. He and his wife Meghan Markle have long urged Americans to "reject hate speech" and vote whenever possible, and given the Sussexes' long history of dealing with public criticism, Alito's ribbing may only fuel the couple's outspoken nature, rather than taking them down a peg.
