Will Smith's reputation has been on the line since he smacked Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards for making a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith's baldness. Despite Smith's apology, the Academy has ruled that he will be barred from attending the Oscars for a decade, although he's still eligible to be nominated.
People on social media were immediately divided on whether to support or admonish Smith, and many celebrities, such as Kevin Hart, chose to support Smith privately instead of publicly. While Smith has the support of his family and friends, he is losing the support of his fans.
According to a new poll from YouGov, a survey company that frequently assesses celebrity popularity, nearly half of people who responded don't support Smith after his live broadcast smack. In fact, his disapproval rating, which was questioned between March 27 and April 4, is now at 47 percent, up from 37 percent previously.
