The success of Dollywood can only be attributed to how much love its founder has put into it and the surrounding community. We are, of course, talking about the one and only Dolly Parton, everyone's favorite country singer with a heart of gold. The Hallmark movie "Christmas at Dollywood" isn't just named after the famous vacation spot; it actually has several scenes that were filmed there. According to the Hallmark Channel, "Christmas at Dollywood" is a sweet rom-com about a New York City event planner returning home to Tennessee to help with a Christmas celebration at Dollywood. She's forced to work with the head of operations there, but the two conflicting personalities are finding it quite difficult to work with each other.
The folks at Knox News, a news outlet that is part of the USA Today network, actually went behind the scenes with Danica McKellar, one of the stars of "Christmas at Dollywood," to find out more about the filming locations. Hallmark likes to film in Canada for a good reason, so it should come as no surprise that the film's main shooting location was Vancouver, Canada. But the film crew made sure to fly back to the United States to get some great scenes shot right at Dollywood. The movie needed the actual scenery of Dollywood to truly sell that the theme park is where the movie was taking place.
Dolly Parton shines in the film
Hallmark movies are famous for being peppered with familiar celebrities to draw in audiences craving to see their favorite stars. "Christmas at Dollywood" continues the tradition. Fans of Dolly Parton will be thrilled to know that the country singer is also in the movie and is playing herself (via IMDb.) We're glad about it. Dollywood just wouldn't be right without its gracious hostess at the helm.
