How To Use Weekly Treat Days To Spice Up Your Routine

We know how important it is to have a daily routine. Social media is filled with morning routines, night routines, workout routines, cleaning routines, and so much more. In fact, routines may be more important to your daily life than you realize. By building a routine that works for you, you'll promote habits that allow you to be the happiest and healthiest version of yourself, as well as get everything done.

Routines can help you prioritize exercise, healthy eating, and meal plans, alongside getting enough sleep, drinking enough water, spending quality time with loved ones, being more productive at work, or even ensuring that you get to enjoy your favorite hobbies. In fact, Hal Elrod, author of "The Miracle Morning," claims that a morning routine is key to setting up your entire day for success.

"How you wake up each day and your morning routine (or lack thereof) dramatically affects your levels of success in every single area of your life," he explained (via Shine). Routines are also known to help stabilize mood and can drastically improve a person's mental health by allowing them to quit worrying and planning as they already know what's coming next. However, even the best routines can feel a bit stale from time to time.

What to do when your routine gets stale

While routines can be very beneficial for health, happiness, and productivity, having the same one day after day may begin to feel boring and counterproductive after a while. Doing certain things to shake up your routine can be helpful. Learning at any age is great, and going back to school or taking a class is a good way to spend your free time. Finding a hobby that brings out your creative side may also be a great way to break up the days if you feel like they're starting to run together.

Another way to shake up your weekdays is to set daily goals. These can be different every day and be as big or as little as you would like. Maybe you want to hit a certain number of steps, discover some new music, or try a new exercise routine. Another way to add a bit of spice to your daily routine is to rearrange the order of your tasks. If you can change things up a bit while still keeping the same basic routine it may help you to feel like your day isn't always the same.

Making time to really celebrate your wins and perform some self-care is also a crucial element to changing up a routine that's starting to feel numbing. Further, one of the most fun ways to shake things up is to implement daily treats.

How treat days can change your routine for the better

If your routine is feeling stagnant because you don't have anything to look forward to, treat days could be the answer. In addition to your normal daily routine, adding in something small and fun to get excited about can help you get through the day and include changes in otherwise boring daily schedules. Content creator Eli Rallo shared her thoughts about daily treats in a TikTok video. Rallo suggested having a sweet treat or takeout one day, getting your favorite drink on another day, and spending time with friends or family members on another day.

She also suggested ordering from your favorite restaurant, going on a date night, and ordering a coffee as well. Of course, treats should be tailored to your specific life and interests. Watching a favorite movie or TV show could also be a treat. Likewise, cooking a new recipe at home, dressing up a bit more for work, enjoying your favorite dessert, connecting with people online, checking out a sporting event, taking a relaxing bath, sprucing up your bedroom to enjoy your nighttime routine more, or buying a new item for your home all count too.

Whatever it is that will help you motivate yourself and have you looking forward to your day should be considered. So, make a list of your favorite things and try to incorporate them into your daily routine to spice it up and add a bit more joy to your life.
